Ouachita Kayak Tours is operated by Arkansas Native Lisa Logan. Logan grew up in Central Arkansas and spent her summers on Lake Ouachita, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing, water skiing, camping, etc… After high school, Logan moved out of state but always returned to Lake Ouachita for summer vacations and any chance she got. Logan’s love of Lake Ouachita, her family, and a local job opportunity brought her back home to Arkansas where she settled near Story in 2008. On her return to the Natural State, Logan discovered her love of kayaking and began avidly exploring local creeks, the Ouachita River, and Lake Ouachita by kayak.
In 2014, Logan paddled the entire shoreline of Lake Ouachita, exploring each and every cove, for a journey of over 700 miles. Her adventure began in April and ended in November as she paddled between weekend shifts working as a respiratory therapist in Hot Springs.
Friends and family expressed an interest in Logan’s adventure as they followed along via her Facebook page. As more people wrote to Logan saying they wished they could paddle along with her Logan began to consider creating a kayak tour business. On a personal level, Logan has shared her love of kayaking with her family and friends for years so starting a kayak tour business seemed like a natural next step. When Logan’s go-to kayak and camping gear supplier, Ouachita Outdoor Outfitters in Hot Springs, indicated they were planning to sell their kayak tour business it didn’t take long for Logan to decide to take the plunge and create Ouachita Kayak Tours.
MEDIA COVERAGE: Logan’s circumnavigation of Lake Ouachita was featured in a 1600 word article by local travel writer Zoie Clift in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette last year. The article was called, “For kayaker, Lake Ouachita’s shoreline provides 700 miles of serenity”. In it, Clift said, “Kayaker Lisa Logan recently completed an adventure few have experienced: circumnavigating Lake Ouachita.”
Logan is currently featured on the cover of Ouachita High Country magazine as well as an article on page 10 called “The Paddle Junkie”, by Jim G. Miller. In the article, Miller says “Logan is now an experienced navigator of one of the most unique and pristine lakes in the United States…”.
